Kenya Power on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, announced a planned blackout scheduled for Wednesday, July 3, 2024.
In a statement, the utility company indicated that the planned power interruption will affect four counties from 8 am to 5 pm.
Counties that will be affected include; Nairobi, Kisumu, Nyeri and Tharaka Nithi County.
In Nairobi, the planned blackout will affect part of Eastleigh including Starehe Boys Centre, Pumwani Boys, BBS Mall, Ismariot Restaurant and adjacent customers from 9 am to 5 pm.
Similarly, the planned blackout in Kisumu County will affect Chiga area including Widor, Kalusi, Bungu, Rweya, Masawa, Hera, Kases, Obumba, Achuodho, Chiga, Aloo Gumbi, Mayienya, Nyamonge and adjacent customers from 9 am to 3 pm.
The blackout in Nyeri will affect Gikumbo Market, Gaikuyu Market, Kilimara, and Gwa Kigera from 8 am to 5 pm.
Areas that will be affected include; Karura Market, Karura C/Fact, Karura Primary School, Eng. Maina, Gathumbi Village, part of Unjiru Village, Ngari Junior Village, Ragati Primary School. Ragati Secondary School, Iharu Village, Gikumbo Market, Kiandara Village, Gathambo TBC, Gaturumo-Ini TBC, Kiamigwi Village, Shauri Moyo, Kihuro Village, Gaikuyu Market, Magutu Secondary School, Gitunduti Market and adjacent customers.
Other areas that will be affected in the county include; Gwa Kigera, Gwa Ichang’i, Safaricom Booster, Kirimara Farm, Kirimara Factory, parts of Ndurutu and adjacent customers.
In Tharaka Nithi, the blackout scheduled to start from 8.30 am to 5 pm will affect Chuka Town and Kimbumbu.
Areas that will be affected include; Chuka KCB, Chuka Girls, Ushirika Plaza, Nchamba Cyber, Kimbumbu Market, Carlifornia, Mukungungu, Tungu C/Fact, Kiangondu Market, Kariuko TBC and adjacent customers.
