Great news! Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is officially in Kenyan cinemas.
Wakanda Forever, the sequel film to the successful 2018 Black Panther movie is now showing in cinemas across the country. The film is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and based on the Marvel comic of the same name.
The sequel comes almost two years after the death of its star and titular character, Chadwick Boseman, who died in 2020 following a battle with colon cancer.
According to the Marvel synopsis, the film follows Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye and the Dora Milaje who fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with Nakia and Everett Ross to forge a new path for their beloved kingdom.
Speaking about the sequel the cast and crew of the film have been adamant that the film will honour Boseman.
Lupita was also happy with Marvel’s decision not to recast so soon after Boseman’s death saying she was biased because his loss affected her deeply.
“…that (Boseman’s death) is not the death of the Black Panther, that’s the whole point. It’s laying to rest [T’Challa] and allowing for real life to inform the story of the movies. I know that there are all sorts of reasons why people want him to be recast, but I don’t have the patience. I don’t have the presence of mind, or I don’t have the objectivity to argue with that. I don’t. I’m very biased.”
Tickets are on sale for the movie which is screening in cinemas across Kenya.
