Ugandan politician-cum musician Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has condemned the forceful arrest of former Nandi Hills Member of Parliament (MP) Alfred Keter.

Bobi Wine through his official X account account on Monday, July 1, 2024, pointed out that the resurgence of abductions is not a good sign for Kenya.

He expressed his pain over the incident that saw police officers in plain clothes rough up Keter before bundling him in a waiting vehicle in the middle of the road, as his wife and children watched helplessly.

“Very painful watching Uganda-style abductions happen on Kenyan streets! The authorities there must be getting terrible advice from a bad neighbor!” Bobi Wine said.

The National Unity Platform (NUP) party leader also urged Kenyans to stand up and defend the constitution before things get worse.

“As I have told our brothers and sisters in Kenya before, you must defend your Constitution before it becomes too weak to defend you. These are not good signs,” Bobi Wine said.

He was ejected from his vehicle and hurriedly carried into an awaiting white pick-up as he screamed for help.

The loud screams from Keter, and his wife and children who had been left in his vehicle, caught the attention of onlookers who recorded a video of the incident before the police white pickup took off.

Kenyans took to social media to voice their concerns about the abduction, which forced the authorities to issue a statement.

President William Ruto who on Sunday, June 30, 2024, appeared in an interview during a media roundtable at State House, Nairobi, said that Keter had been previously summoned by the police but had failed to present himself.
