In a statement on Monday, December 23, 2024, Wamae questioned why the new appointees are trolled noting that the rate at which they are being insulted online is alarming.
Wamae went on to ask whether the insults were out of jealousy or genuine concern for the country. She further reminded the critics to support and celebrate the newly appointee’s achievements, even when they are waiting for their chance.
Those against the appointment have criticised Ruto with some going to the extent of sharing the appointees’ private contacts online.
The appointees include Mutahi Kagwe, Lee Kinyanjui, William Kabogo, former presidential hopeful Peter Kenneth and former Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria.
In the appointment notice, Mutahi was appointed as Agriculture and Livestock Development Cabinet Secretary while Kinyanjui was appointed head of the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry.
Kabogo on the other hand was appointed as Information, Communications and the Digital Economy CS while Lee set to head the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry, a strategic portfolio focused on boosting Kenya’s investment climate and trade relations.
Peter Kenneth was appointed as the chairperson of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) National Standards Council. On the other hand, the former Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria was picked to lead the Public Procurement Regulatory Board.
The president made the changes in a move aimed at optimizing service delivery and driving the administration’s ambitious Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
