Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, shared an inspiring story about a security guard who beat all odds to graduate with a degree.
Identified as Claire Juma, Wetang’ula noted that she accepted the venture into the security guard field, a job that is considered less lucrative, but she did not allow that to determine her future.
Determined to make a difference, she enrolled at Kibakii University to pursue Education where she has finally graduated.
The Speaker advised the young people to start taking up odd jobs which he argued is a gateway to greater opportunities.
“To the youth, Claire’s story is a powerful reminder that education is the gateway to empowerment, the key to realizing your potential, and a tool to transform your life, your family, and your community.”
He made the remarks after meeting Claire who was accompanied by Tongaren Member of Parliament John Chikati.
The Speaker of the National Assembly added that Claire’s determination would pay off even in the job hunting process.
“This morning, Claire visited my office in the company of her area MP, John Chikati. Her story is a remarkable reflection of how education serves as the ultimate equalizer in society. Previously a security officer, a role traditionally seen as menial, Claire has now redefined her future, armed with a recognized and respectable qualification,” the speaker insisted.
“I congratulate Claire for her unwavering resolve, tireless efforts, and commitment to building a brighter tomorrow. As she steps into the job market, I am confident that her determination will set her apart and lead her to success.”
