Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has offered to assist stranded students at the Nairobi SGR terminus waiting bay area to get to their destination.
Sonko shared his phone number and asked the said students to reach out via text or WhatsApp message to get the needed assistance to facilitate their travel home.
“Is this true what I’m seeing online about Pwani University students being stranded somewhere in Nairobi and sleeping on the cold floor? Hebu chukueni any means ubber/ bodaboda mukuje niwapate means ya kufika home kila mtu. 0722886600,” he tweeted.
The accident happened in the Kayole area in Naivasha after the university bus headed for games hit a matatu before overturning following a brake failure.
While recounting the accident, one student stated that once the driver learnt about brake failure, he alerted them to tighten their safety belts but it wasn’t long before the crash.
“The driver informed us to tighten the safety belts after realizing the brakes had failed. He tried all he could but it did not work,” he stated.
