A love triangle turned tragic in Rabango, Siaya township ward in Siaya county after a 28-year-old stabbed his 22-year-old girlfriend to death.

Confirming the incident, Siaya OCPD Benedict Mwagangi stated that the two who had rented a house in the outskirts of the town prior to the incident had a disagreement over infidelity.

The argument escalated into a physical altercation that saw the suspect stab the deceased to death.

According to locals, the deceased who was brutally murdered was unable to get help from neighbours because of the heavy downpour.

“The suspect had just moved in with his girlfriend at a new house in Rabango where she was brutally murdered,” Otieno said noting that he still had receipts of payment made by the suspect.

Mwagangi stated that the suspect who had gone missing after the incident surrendered at the Siaya police station where he is currently being held.

Police who visited the scene of crime noted that they recovered a blood-stained knife and blood-stained clothes. Items recovered have been secured as exhibit as investigations into the murder commence.

“The knife and blood-stained clothes were recovered from the house and have been secured as exhibit as investigations into the murder commence,” Mwagangi said.

The body of the deceased was taken to the Siaya county referral mortuary.

Distraught parents and family members of the deceased expressed sadness and shock at the news of their daughter’s demise.

“I first received a message from my husband notifying me that the principal had informed him of the death of our daughter,” the deceased’s mother stated.

“I can’t believe that my daughter whom we have sacrificed a lot in order to take her to school is the person lying dead at the mortuary with deep cuts on the neck, wrists, hands and throat,” she added.

The police boss decried the rising cases of homicide in the region and equally advocated for mental health programs to help salvage the situation.

He further urged couples to seek guidance whenever disputes emerge instead of resorting to violence

“I would ask couples to engage in dialogue and even seek guidance whenever they have disputes instead of resorting to violence and murder,” he said.
