President William Ruto has questioned how football bet settlement works just hours after First Lady Rachel Ruto challenged him to pay her after she beat him in a bet they placed on the World Cup finals.

Ruto shared a tweet indicating that he had since attempted to borrow a loan from the Hustler Funds kitty to pay the First Lady and his kids, but his request was declined. He noted that he was informed that the funds are only available for individuals intending to invest in small businesses.

Hustler fund wamenikataza siwezi lipa bet nayo wanasema pesa ni ya husle. Isorait. Kwangu hakukaliki. Lady #1 na watoi ni pressure. Wale kuku zangu wataniokoa nilipe. Lakini naulizaje? Bet huishanga na 90min ama xtra time huesabiwa? Even penalty shootouts? Kuuliza tu?

The President who tweeted in sheng stated that the First Lady and his children are on his neck after he lost the bet following Argentina’s win. He jokingly stated that he was considering drawing some cash from his chicken business to settle the debt.

“Hustler fund wamenikataza siwezi lipa bet nayo wanasema pesa ni ya husle. Isorait. Kwangu hakukaliki. Lady #1 na watoi ni pressure. Wale kuku zangu wataniokoa nilipe,” he tweeted.

Ruto further queried if penalty shootouts or extra-time results count in a 3-way football bet. He seemed unsure if the First Lady and their children were demanding the settlement of their bet under the acceptable and widely practiced betting rules.

“Lakini naulizaje? Bet huishanga na 90min ama xtra time huesabiwa? Even penalty shootouts? Kuuliza tu?” he added.

Before the kickoff, Ruto who was present in Qatar to cheer the French National Team was first to declare his support for the Le Bleus through his Twitter account. The Head of State indicated that his wife and their children were supporting the South American side and had dared him to a bet.

“Supporting the African team in the world Cup finals. Good luck Rachel & kids as you support the other side. Remember to pay the bet!! Either way expecting fine football,” Ruto tweeted.

After a spectacular first half performance, First Lady Rachael Ruto teased the President asking him if his bet against Argentina was still on.

“Two goals up! Bet still on Bill?” she tweeted.

Messi had given Argentina lead from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute following Ousmane Dembele’s foul on Angel Di Maria.

The PSG foward then contributed a delicate touch within a magnificent counter-attack that ended with Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister setting up Di Maria for the second 13 minutes later.

Argentina was untroubled until the closing stages, only for Mbappe to give France a lifeline from the penalty spot with nine minutes left – then restore equality with a magnificent volley moments later.

Messi bundled Argentina back in front in extra time, but Mbappe completed his treble from the spot two minutes from the end of a frantic, chaotic added spell.

And so it went to penalties, with the two greats opening the scoring. But Argentina and Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez saved from Kingsley Coman, before Aurelian Tchouameni missed, leaving Gonzalo Montiel to win the World Cup.

Minutes after Montiel’s winning penalty, Rachael Ruto took to her Twitter account to ask President Ruto to meet his end of the bargain. She further congratulated the Argentinian National Team for their hardly fought win.

“I want to join the rest of the world in congratulating the Argentina National Football Team, Captained by Lionel Messi, for winning the 2022 World Cup tournament. Wear your three stars with pride! Bill, pay your bill!” she tweeted.
