Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika on Monday, March 13 asked the logic behind the presidential election in Kenya if the loser does not accept the outcome.
Without mentioning names, the governor asked: “What is the point of ELECTIONS if every cycle the loser demands to forcefully be incorporated into Gov’t? Doesn’t the election determine the winner = President; the loser goes HOME and waits for the next election hoping for better luck to LEGITIMATELY turn tables & WIN, NO?”
Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya leader Raila Odinga has called for mass action countrywide to force the government to lower the cost of living.
However, his call for protests has been interpreted by Kenya Kwanza leaders as his way of forcing his way into government through a handshake.
United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malalah last week claimed that Azimio sent leaders to meet President William Ruto to negotiate a handshake.
“What Azimio is doing is a way to seek a handshake with Ruto. Up until yesterday evening, they were sending p****e to see if they could have a talk with our President.
“We want to tell Azimio, don’t contemplate or entertain the idea that you can have a handshake with Ruto,” he said.
Malalah said the only handshake Ruto will have is with Kenyan citizens and not Raila. The UDA secretary said Azimio leader Raila Odinga should approach him first if he wants a handshake.
“If he wants a handshake, let him first come and meet with me. Our President is very busy working on how he will make life affordable to Kenyans. He has no time and resources to waste,” he said.
The SG, however, maintained there is no possibility of a handshake with the President.
The President has recently claimed Raila’s political rallies are aimed at putting him under pressure to accept a handshake with Azimio.
