President William Ruto has shared a sweet but moving message to First Lady Rachel Ruto who is celebrating her birthday on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
“Happy birthday my love Mama Rachel Ruto,” the message read in part.
The Head of State went on to appreciate the First Lady’s integral role in raising their kids. Rachel and Ruto got married in 1991 and are currently raising seven children.
In 2016, Ruto was touched by the story of a girl called Nadia who was abandoned as a newborn and gave her the name of his mother, Cherono.
Ruto thus wished Rachel Ruto blessings as they continued raising their kids.
“Continue being a blessing to me and our children. Mungu akubariki sana,” Ruto added.
She was born on November 20, 1969, and attended Likuyani Primary School and later joined Butere Girls Secondary School in Kakamega County, Western Kenya.
As part of the celebration, Rachel Ruto led the nation to celebrate World Children’s Day 2024 in an event held in Nakuru. She joined the kids in preparing the meals which were served to some of the attendees, including Belio Kipsang, Principal Secretary, the State Department for Basic Education and Joseph Motari, Principal Secretary, of the State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizens Affairs.
Rachel Ruto is the founder and patron of Mama Doing Good and a champion of Faith Diplomacy, Mental Health and Wellness. In 2009 she founded Joyful Women Organization, an initiative to financially empower rural women.
In her service to the nation, Rachel has bagged several accolades awards notably, the State Commendation Elder of the Golden Heart (EGH).
