A 15-year-old minor whose body was discovered at shores of the Indian Ocean shores in Jomvu sub county Mombasa county was strangled to death.

Postmortem results conducted on the body of Ibrahim Katana at the Coast General Teaching and referral hospital revealed that he died of asphyxiation.

“His neck was dislocated. There was dislocation from the 1st to 5th ribs bilaterally and his cause of death was cardiorespiratory arrest caused by Asphyxiation,” the report read.

The report has also revealed that he bore deep cuts on his right hand and another similar cut on his left thigh.

Cyanosin was discovered on his fingernails, an indication that he was suffocated for some time as he fought with his killers.

Cyanosin is a bluish discolouration of either the nail or the skin due to poor, circulation or inadequate oxygen in the blood.

Police are now treating the case as murder and officers drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations ( DCI) have since taken over the matter to unravel the mystery surrounding the minor’s death.

The minor’s mother, Sabu Lewa says the deceased was last seen playing with fellow children outside the compound.

It still remains unclear where or who killed the minor and police have since summoned three minors alongside their parents to shed more light on his death.

“For now the minors are being treated as suspects, we are looking into all theories brought our way, to establish who was involved in the murder and what was the motive,” an officer privy to the ongoing investigations stated.

Katana’s mutilated body with his hands tied at the back was found yesterday at the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital (CPGH) mortuary.

He went missing on Friday and his body had begun decomposing when it was discovered .
