Former Mumias East Member of Parliament Mark Barasa is dead.
Barasa, 98, was found murdered at his home farm in Tongaren, Bungoma county, on Wednesday, December 28.
He served as the first MP for Bungoma East between 1963 and 1969.
First responders say Barasa’s body was partially burnt with acid and the eyes, tongue and left hand were missing.
Prior to his death, Barasa had been reported missing. His family mounted a search everywhere and even announced his disappearance through the media to no avail.
The family said they thought the old man had lost his memory and was unable to trace his way home.
