Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has been released from Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters where he was being grilled over an alleged raid in his Karen home last month.
Matiang’i, who arrived at the DCI headquarters at 9 am on Tuesday, March 7, left the Kiambu Road-based DCI offices shortly after 4 pm.
Speaking to the press, his lawyer Danstan Omari said the DCI had preferred two charges against the former CS but did not set the date he will be arraigned in court.
“They said they are not taking the minister to court today. So what then remains is that it is a date they will present the charge sheet before the court and we shall present Waziri before that court,” Omari said.
According to DCI officer Maurice Shiraho, who is handling the former CS’s case, Matianga’i will be charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and publication of false information contrary to Section 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crimes Act of 2018 among other offences.
