A youthful man has been stabbed to death in Korompoi, Isinya sub-county in Kajiado county.
In the Thursday 19, 2023 evening incident, the deceased is said to have engaged in an argument with his roommate over some missing mattock before the ugly scene turned bloody.
The two who engage in construction manual jobs have been living together in a single room for over one year according to neighbours.
On the fateful day, the killer who is currently on the run is said to have followed up on his missing tool and established his partner (now deceased) had sold the tool to a scrap metal dealer.
According to neighbours, the two engaged in a long argument but the deceased remained adamant that he sold the tool to utilize the money in an emergency.
They say the argument ended but in the wee hours of the night, there was a commotion between the two before the ‘suspected thief’ was found dead in a pool of blood within the compound of the rental house.
“The two engaged in a heated exchange because of a missing mattock. At some point the deceased agreed to have sold the mattock to the scrap metal dealer but was not remorseful. He insisted he had valid reasons to sell and that is not stealing. We tried to urge him to apologize and offer to pay for the mattock but he declined, “Alice Muge, a neighbor claimed.
Another neighbour Maria Chem, said; “We woke up to shock. We found the accused lying in a pool of blood dead. His partner was nowhere to be found. The few household items in the house were intact.”
Confirming the incident, Isinya Sub-county police commander Ancient Kaloki said detectives are pursuing the suspect who is well known.
“The deceased was stabbed in the thigh and he might have succumbed to excess bleeding. Preliminary investigations point out a murder. We are treating his roommate as the prime suspect. Blood stains have been spotted in their room and it seems the deceased was struggling to run away before he was overwhelmed. The suspect is on the ran,” Kaloki confirmed.
The police commander urges residents to seek alternative dispute resolution warning them of dare consequences.
“It does not matter if one has proved to have been wronged. You are not supposed to take the law into your hands. That is a criminal offence,” he warned.
The body has been moved to Kitengela Sub-County hospital as investigations into the incident commenced.
