The welfare of Kenyan workers in the middle east featured prominently on the final day of the weeklong vetting of nominees to the cabinet. Lawmakers sought to know what steps will be taken to ensure the safety of Kenyan workers, especially those currently eking a living in Saudi Arabia. Outgoing Labour Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui told the vetting committee that the government has put in place measures to safeguard the welfare of Kenyans working in the gulf. But as Gichuki Wachira reports, a family in Kisii County says not much has been done to help them bring home their ailing 24 year old daughter who was allegedly poisoned by her employer in Saudi Arabia.
