A Kenyan family is seeking help in raising Ksh4.5 million (35,000 USD) to assist them to repatriate the body of their kin who was shot dead in Charlottesville, Virginia on Saturday, March 4, 2023.

Justice Kigen aged 20, met his untimely death when he was shopping at a supermarket.

“Dear friends, family and the general community, it’s with a heavy heart to break the bad news of our son Justice Kigen Kilel who was shot and killed in Charlottesville Virginia on March 4 last week,” the family appealed.

The deceased will be buried in Kapsircho Kapsabet in Nandi county.

“Justice will be buried in Kapsirchoi Kapsabet Kenya. We are reaching out to ask for financial support towards the cost of travelling to Kenya and all other expenses. Our budget is $35,000. Thanks so much for your support,” the family added.

The 2:00 am incident occurred after two men stormed the outlet and began to a*****t him. During the altercation, his a*******s fired shots k*****g him on the spot.

Police say one of the suspects aged 17 sustained a gunshot injury and is currently being treated at UVA medical centre while the other suspect aged 19 was located at an apartment complex in Albemarle county where he was arrested.

“The suspect has been charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a f****y. Since the suspect is a juvenile, CPD will not be releasing their name,’ police said.

The 19-year-old suspect has been charged with an account of malicious wounding.

Police suspect that the altercation was due to an ongoing dispute between the deceased and the suspects.
