Police in Kakamega have arrested two suspects in connection to an attack on a senior officer.

Kakamega North Sub County police boss Paul Mwenda stated that the two were arrested after police launched a manhunt for them.

The duo reportedly attacked the cop, James Oludhe, North Sub County Criminal Investigation officer as he was heading home from work.

The men who were armed with machetes cut the officer on the head and his left arm before robbing him of his Jericho pistol, cash and his mobile phone packed in his bag.

Afterwards, the assailants left the scene with the officer’s items and left him at the scene.

The officer was rescued by a colleague who rushed to the scene after hearing the altercation.

He found Oludhe lying in a pool of blood and rushed him to a nearby health facility where he was admitted in critical condition.

Police who noted that they are yet to arrest other individuals involved in the crime stated that they are yet to establish the motive behind the incident.

“We are yet to establish the motive behind the attack but our officers have arrested two suspects and are hunting for others,” police added.
