The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has been feted for its excellent management of the procurement processes.
The commission was awarded the first runners-up position in the Public Procurement Project of the Year in an event held at the Carnivore grounds on December 3.
The event that recognises individuals and organisations with best practices in Supply Chain Management was spearheaded by the Kenya Institute of Supply Management.

The fete came amid a longstanding tiff between chairman Wafula Chebukati and four of the commissioners from the electoral agency.
The commission has also been a subject of ridicule as Raila Odinga accuse the chairman of single handedly bungling the August 9 General Election while on the other hand President William Ruto unconditionally praised the commission for running a credible election.
The procurement process for ballot papers and the KIEMS kit for the August 9 General Elections was embroiled in a series of controversy.
The tender, according to the IEBC website was under tender number IEBC/OT/022/27/2021/2022 and described as a supply and delivery of KIEMS network for 2022 General Election contracted for three years.
The tender was initiated on January 28 and submitted on February 18.

The use of the KIEMS kit and the manual voter register was also a bone of contention as leaders revisited the law to ascertain what the law legalised as the best to use in the highly contested election.
Ruto asked the electoral agency to take Raila Odinga to Greece to witness the printing of ballot papers if that would make him contented that there was no underhand in the procurement process.

Speaking in Marsabit on Wednesday, July 6, Ruto said he had no problem with the election commission and was ready for the August election.
The Azimio la Umoja leader had communicated his doubts on the printing of the ballot papers when the printing of ballot papers began.
