Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah has appealed for public help in finding another youth who has gone missing in the new wave of abductions.
Taking to his official X account on Thursday, December 26, 2024, Omtatah asked any Kenyan who might be having information on the whereabouts of social media user @Kibet_bull to come forward.
The politician-cum activist who has since declared his interest in the 2027 presidential seat stated that they had unsuccessfully done anything possible to locate the social media user who is known for criticizing President William Ruto using silhouettes, since learning that he was missing.
Omtatah further argued that he had led his team in conducting searches in police stations on December 25, spoke with persons of interest, and reported the matter to the police but he has not yet found help.
He says he had also obtained information about a Subaru Forester mounted with communication equipment, ran the plate number details through the NTSA website, but established that the plates were fake.
Kenyans on social media have been mounting pressure on Omtatah since Kibet went missing moments after meeting the Busia senator in Nairobi.
Omtatah had on December 24, warned that Kenyans will not be silenced through intimidation and oppression following the new wave of abductions that have since caused a public uproar.
“The ongoing abductions and incommunicado detention of young Kenyans for daring to speak truth to power are both alarming and unacceptable. Let it be clear: no government, no matter how ruthless, can silence the revolutionary conscience of a people dedicated to justice and democracy,” Omtatah stated.
