The political landscape in the country has continued to experience turbulent waves after the bromance between President William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua hit a hurdle over an ouster plot against the second in command.
The latest lawmaker to be drawn into this exchange of words is the Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wa Muchomba.
Speaking in Githurai, Kiambu County on Sunday, September 22, 2024, Wa Muchomba called out Sudi for being behind DP Gachagua’s tribulations.
The vocal legislator accused Sudi of being behind a scheme aimed at painting Gachagua in a bad light by intentionally sabotaging him. She recalled last Sunday’s incident where Gachagua missed an event attended by President Ruto in Nyeri and accused Oscar Sudi of being behind the plan to put an empty seat to show that the second in command skipped the function.
“Sasa wacha kuanza niongee na Sudi. Wewe Sudi tunajua ile kazi mnafanyia uyu mzee wetu. Wakati mlienda kule Nyeri last Sunday mlikuwa mumepanga muendee safari moja rais na deputy wake (Let me first address Sudi. Sudi, we know what you are doing to our son. When you went to Nyeri last week it was planned that Gachagua and President Ruto will be together),” Wa Muchomba claimed amidst cheers from the crowd in Githurai.
“Wale ambao wanazunguka rais wanafanya ukarabati ile deputy president asijue mahali rais anaenda. Wanaenda wanaeka kiti haina mwenyewe ndio wahaibishe mtoto wetu, wewe Sudi wewe (But those people surrounding the President made some plans so that the Deputy President could not know where the President was headed. They went ahead and placed a seat so as to embarrass our son),” she added.
At the same time, Wa Muchomba challenged Sudi to come out clearly after the lawmaker sent a cryptic message on his social media page indicating only weeks.
“I repeat once again, two weeks home,” Sudi’s statement read in part.
“Saizi unaingia apo kwa mtandao unaandika ati two weeks. Wewe ujue tunakujua vizuri. Sasa unataka kumtoa ili uweke mtu utakuwa unapanga. Hatutakubali muende hio njia (Right now you have written on social media that only two weeks. We know you very well. You want to remove him so that someone who you can manipulate can be picked, we will not allow you go that direction), she added.
Wa Muchomba’s sentiments come after Sudi has challenged Gachagua to engage in self-reflection, suggesting that the Deputy President’s frequent conflicts with other leaders indicate that he might be the source of his problems.
Speaking on Sunday, September 22, 2024, Gachagua warned that if the impeachment motion goes through, the Mt Kenya people would not forgive Ruto for betrayal.
