Government Spokesperson, Isaac Mwaura, has maintained that the planned state visit by His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima from the Netherlands is still on course.
This after Kenyans online sent about 300 e-mails to the Dutch government, urging them to cancel the three-day-visit, citing the country’s prevailing state of affairs.
Speaking to the press Monday morning, Mwaura faulted Kenyans for using social media to spread lies, warning those trying to bar foreign dignitaries from visiting the country to desist.
The Royal House of the Netherlands had stated that the visit is at the invitation of President William Ruto and represents a watershed moment in the two countries’ relationship.
The Dutch Foreign Affairs ministry has also insisted that the visit is still on as it will present an opportunity to discuss the alleged violations by Ruto’s government.
