Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Dr Alfred Mutua is already in South Korea ahead of a scheduled visit by President William Ruto.
The Foreign Affairs CS, upon his arrival held talks with his South Korea counterpart Dr. FM Park Jin and discussed President Ruto’s visit as well as the bilateral and beneficial relations that will be enhanced by the visit.
“I have today morning in Seoul, South Korea, held a meeting with my counterpart, Dr. FM Park Jin- Minister for Foreign Affairs. We discussed the forthcoming official visit by President William Ruto and our bilateral and beneficial relations that will be enhanced by the visit,” read a statement from the Dr Alfred Mutua.
They also engaged on major issues the two nations would seek to broaden existing ties on common interest.
“We agreed on critical issues that will be major points of discussion when our leaders sit together during our two nations’ bilateral session tomorrow,” he said.
Mutua added, “I shared with him snippets of our Kenyan economic plan and appreciated the support we continue to receive from South Korea in many fields. We agreed that Kenya can be the perfect hub for South Korea’s strategic positioning into Africa.”
During the meeting, CS Mutua also invited Minister FM Park Jin to visit Kenya so as to continue strengthening our friendship and partnership and he agreed.
According to a statement from State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, President Ruto is expected to explore partnerships in key sectors of the government’s economic transformation agenda, including agriculture, energy, infrastructure and public health, with engagements that will culminate to the signing of trade agreements between the two nations.
“Kenya will also advance negotiations to open markets for her exports as part of growing bilateral trade. Kenya and the Republic of Korea enjoy cordial ties founded on common values, mutual trust and benefit,” Hussein said.
