The engineering fraternity wants the government to fast track the adoption of nuclear energy in the country, as a solution to climate change and the overuse of fossil fuels.
Nuclear Power and Energy Agency Director Eng. Erick Ohaga says they will work closely with the government to push for the adoption of emerging technology in infrastructure development, increasing local capacity, and ensure carbon footprint audits are done during conceptualization of all projects.
Ohaga said adopting this form of energy would be beneficial, ensuring Kenya is energy sufficient and reducing the over-reliance of non-renewable energy.
He says with collaboration and policy implementation, Kenya could propel itself from a lower middle income country, and the adoption of the technology would, in the long run, prove unavoidable.
