Donald Trump has been sworn in as the 47th president of the United States of America.
In his inaugural speech, President Trump said the golden age of America had begun and that the country would flourish and be respected under his leadership.
He said he had been given a mandate to completely and totally reverse what he described as a horrible betrayal by those in power against the American people, adding that he would give people their faith, wealth, democracy and freedom.
Trump also said that his being sworn into office marked the end of America’s decline.
President Trump promised that his government would work to meet every crisis with dignity, power and strength and would bring back prosperity for citizens of every race, religion, colour and creed.
Trump also hit out at the Biden administration and its handling of the migrant crisis, saying the country has a crisis of “trust” in its government.
He described January 20th 2025 as America’s liberation day. Tech billionaires, cabinet nominees and former presidents were all at the ceremony in the rotunda of the US Capitol.
Minutes before Trump took the oath, outgoing President, Joe Biden, issued pardons for members of his family.
