The man had reached out to Passaris on X and indicated that he was out of hustle after he was laid off on August 26, 2024.

“Rent ya 2500 imenishinda completely kulipa mheshimiwa this month due to an unprecedented job loss I suffered on 26th August 2024. May you kindly come through for me Mheshimiwa if possible,” an X user named Mahalon Odhiambo posted.

Odhiambo’s request was honoured when the MP came through to clear his due rent with a promise to get him back on his feet.

Adding: “My office will get back to you to see how we can help you get back to self-reliance.”

Odhiambo was unable to hide his excitement following the generosity of the legislator.

“I may lack enough words to thank you mheshimiwa but once again thank you so much and be blessed abundantly. May you never lack and I pray that the Lord opens for you ways beyond your expectations Asante sana,” he responded.

Passaris threw herself into politics in 2013 but lost to the first Woman representative of Nairobi County Racheal Shebesh. She, however, ran again in 2017 and emerged victorious. She is currently serving her second term in the National Assembly.

During the 2022 general elections, Passaris garnered 698,929 votes to beat UDA candidate Millicent Omanga who secured 586,246 votes.

After being declared the winner in the closely contested election, she dedicated the win to her late father.

“I dedicate this win to my father and I will serve the people of Nairobi with integrity, compassion, and with the Spirit of God in your honour,” she said in 2022.

The politician was born to a father of Greek roots and a Kenyan mother in 1964 and raised in Mombasa County. Passaris is an alumnus of the United States International University (USIU), Strathmore University and is pursuing a degree at the London University.

She is a mother of two children from his marriage with businessman Pius Ngugi.
