Taking to his social media accounts, on December 21, 2024, the former POTUS shared his favourite tunes and asked for suggestions for more artistes or songs he could explore before the end of the year.
“I always look forward to sharing my annual list of favourite books, movies, and music. Here are my favourite songs from this year! Check them out if you’re looking to shake up your playlist and let me know if there’s a song or artist I should make sure to listen to,” Obama shared.
Tyla, Asake and Rema were some of the African artistes that he featured in his 2024 favourite tunes.

Central Cee, Lil Baby, Ezra Collective, Yazmin Lacey, The Red Clay Strays, Fontaines D.C, Travis Scott,
Shaboozey, Bonny Light Horseman, Rae Khalil, Jordan Adetunji, Artemas, Johnny Blue Skies and Hozier.
Obama’s music taste has long been known to be diverse, as documented by his song lists over the past few years.
Apart from music, Obama also shared the list of movies and books he has been reading as he encourages his fans to check them out.
“Today I’ll start by sharing some of the books that have stuck with me long after I finished reading them. Check them out this holiday season, preferably at an independent bookstore or library!”
“Here are a few movies I’d recommend checking out this year,” he shared.
“With summer winding down, I wanted to share some songs that I’ve been listening to lately – and it wouldn’t be my playlist if it didn’t include an eclectic mix. I hope you find something new to listen to.”
