Umoja One Member of County Assembly (MCA) Mark Mugambi has claimed his life is in danger after he was attacked by alleged goons in his office at City Hall on Thursday, January 26, 2023.

“I am quite disturbed that they have sent goons to attack me. Gaucho and Baraka planned my attack this morning. They tore my t-shirt and grabbed my watch,” Mugambi explained.

He further stated that he received an alert from Minority Leader Anthony Kiragu that plans were underway to attack him and that he should stay safe.

He explained that he took it as a mere threat and did not expect them to actualize it until today morning when the goons attacked him.

Mugambi bashed the governor claiming he has not launched any project, yet he has been holding numerous meetings.

“Last week, he was in Naivasha with Chief Officers, this week the same chief officers are in Panari and he has invited MCAs for a meeting over the weekend,” he said.

Recently, the working relationship between Governor Sakaja and the MCAs allied to the Kenya Kwanza side has been deteriorating.

This was evidently displayed on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, after a section of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) MCAs aired their dissatisfaction with their house leadership who criticized the Governor on Tuesday.

“We do not agree with what they said and we assure Nairobians and UDA supporters that we are in a good working relationship with the governor,” Kayole Central MCA Jeremiah Themendu stated.

The emerging pro-Sakaja faction gave Kiragu a 24-hour ultimatum to substantiate their claims of the governor funding Azimio.

On Tuesday, Kiragu and Mugambi alleged that Sakaja funded the Azimio rally that was held in Kamukunji.

Governor Sakaja, however, has dismissed the accusations saying Ruto together with the UDA leadership gave him a go-ahead to blend his cabinet since Azimio is the majority in the Assembly.
