An elderly couple has been murdered in what police believe to be land disputes in areas of Aldina Namalakazi, Jomvu sub-county Mombasa County.
Jomvu sub-county police commander Peter Maluki said that preliminary investigations had indicated that the couple namely, Jonathan Mzungu aged 70 and his wife Rehema Tunje aged 64 are suspected to have been murdered by their children in relation to a parcel of land owned by the deceased.
“Investigations are ongoing and it’s highly suspected that the couple lost their lives following attacks from their children. Allow police more time to complete investigations and release a complete report,” he said.
According to a police report, area village elders reported that the bodies of the elderly couple were found in their semi-permanent house.
“Police officers visited the scene and established that the couple was lying dead inside their mud house with several head cuts inflicted by sharp objects,” part of the police report reads.
The bodies have been moved to Coast general hospital awaiting postmortem.
No arrests have been made yet.
