Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is assuring Kenyans that the Kenya Kwanza administration will strive to give everyone equal opportunity to thrive in 2023.
And as the clock fast ticks towards the new year, Gachagua is wishing Kenyans a happy and prosperous 2023 that is filled with peace, virtues of hard work and desire to succeed.

“As we usher in the new year, I see a beautiful, prosperous Kenya where every hustle matters and all hardworking Kenyans are accorded an opportunity to thrive and adequately compensated for their sweat,” said Gachagua.
He acknowledged that the year 2022 has been challenging for millions of Kenyans facing high food prices in the midst of a struggling economy.
“The last quarter of the year, however, brought a beacon of hope with the election of a new Democratic Government under President William Ruto,” the DP added expressing optimism that the Head of State will steer the country into prosperity in the new year.

He spoke as Kenyans lament over the high cost of living and untold suffering brought about by the ravaging drought that has hit parts of the country.
So dire has been the situation that even President Ruto established a 15-member National Steering Committee to mitigate the ongoing drought that has exposed over four million Kenyans to hunger.
Fears abound that with the 15% electricity subsidy set to end at midnight and with the Central Bank of Kenya reintroducing charges on transfers between mobile money wallets and banks, the going may get tougher in the new year.
Already, a number of local banks have sent text messages to locals informing them that the charges will take effect on January 1,2023.

“Dear customer, we would like to notify you that transactions from bank accounts to mobile money wallets will be charged effective 01/01/2023. This follows a Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) announcement on the reintroduction of significantly reduced charges,” reads some of the text messages sent to customers.
With the Deputy President giving the assurance, Kenyans can only bank on hope that the new Kenya Kwanza administration that is barely four months in office will walk the talk and fulfill its pre-election pledges, key among them being to make life bearable for majority of Kenyans who can hardly put food on the table.
