In a statement shared via their official social media accounts, the commission stated that the dates had been extended from December 16 to December 23.
“The Teachers Service Commission has reviewed the roadmap for the Recruitment of Teachers and Teacher Interns. The deadline for submission of applications has been extended from 16th to 23rd December 2022. For more information, visit our website,” the statement reads in parts.
The commission announced 10,000 positions for teachers employed on permanent pensionable terms and 25,550 slots for interns to curb the shortage of teachers in the country.
“TSC invites applications from qualified candidates to fill the vacancies to support the implementation of Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC),” the statement read in parts.
Out of the positions available for teachers employed on pensionable terms 9,000 slots are meant for permanent secondary school teachers while the other 1,000 slots are for primary school teachers.
Similarly, out of the positions, meant for interns, 21, 550 slots are for intern teachers for junior secondary schools whereas the other 4,000 slots are set for primary school interns.
The vacancies announced aligned with President William Ruto’s directive to recruit 30,000 teachers for the academic year 2023.
“The Ministry of Education, Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), and the TSC will work on modalities of fast-tracking retooling teachers to ensure the country has sufficient numbers who are compliant with CBC,” the statement by the Head of State read in part.
TSC asked interested candidates to submit their applications online through their website www(dot)tsc(dot)go(dot)ke or teachersonline(dot)tsc(dot)go(dot)ke.
Required documents during application include copies of professional and academic certificates and relevant documents.
