The woman was arrested in her house and the body of the 47-year-old lover was recovered along with a kitchen knife she is believed to have stabbed the deceased in the chest on Saturday evening.
Confirming the incident Ngong sub-county police commander Joakim Mecha said preliminary investigations put the suspect at the scene of murder and police will hold her for more days for further interrogation.
“We have a female suspect in our custody. We are yet to establish if the suspect and the deceased are a couple but the deceased is said to be a frequent visitor. We discovered the body and recovered the kitchen knife in the said house. All investigations point to the cause of death being murder. The deceased has a deep chest stab,” Mecha confirmed.
The police commander cautions lovers to detest engaging in physical confrontation but instead explore alternative legal dispute resolutions.
“Killing someone is not acceptable, it is a criminal act punishable by law. The law provisions do not allow killing as an option even for a proofed offence. That should clearly guide all of us to explore alternative conflict resolution,” Mecha added.
According to neighbours the two known as lover birds were frequently engaged in physical brawls over domestic issues.
The suspect is being held at Ong’ata Rongai police station awaiting to be arraigned at the Ngong law court.
