National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has appealed for patience as Parliament readies to receive the findings of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) report to be tabled this week.
Speaking in Bungoma, the Speaker assured that legislators will be keen to scrutinize the crucial document that will decide the fate of the new education system even as the CBC pioneer class sits for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) next week on Monday to November 30.
“The current CBC curriculum is a milestone in the practical aspect of the education sector in the country. I will be keen to sieve through the CBC report awaited to be tabled in Parliament this coming week. Therefore I call upon the parents and education stakeholders to be patient as the process of implementing the CBC curriculum is streamlined” he said.
Wetangula also urged Kenyans to support examination candidates for optimal performance.
“I urge Kenyans and the people of Bungoma to support examination candidates for optimal performance. I will work with all our leaders including clerics, to ensure that our children receive the best education going forward,” said Wetangula.
A 42-member task force appointed by President William Ruto to evaluate the new education model concluded public participation forums countrywide on November 11 and will be tabling the much-awaited report in Parliament this week.
3,416,048 candidates are set to sit for their national examinations beginning Monday.
Rehearsals for grade six learners and class eight candidates are scheduled for Friday, November 25 2022.
The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations will begin on Friday, December 2 2022 and run until December 23, 2022.
