The fire incident at Moi Girls High School in Kibra has been contained with all students accounted for, officials confirmed.
In a statement on X, Kenya Red Cross says the Nairobi City County fire brigade contained the situation which affected one dormitory adding that there are no casualties.
Kenya Red Cross says it has deployed its counseling team to offer Psychosocial Support Services to those impacted by the incident adding that they will provided 200 mattresses, 400 blankets and 200 dignity kits to the school.
” Kenya Red Cross will provide 200 mattresses, 400 blankets and 200 dignity kits tonight. Our counseling team will be offering Psychosocial Support Services to the affected.” The Statement read.
Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has expressed deep concern and sadness over the recent spate of fires in schools, following the latest incident at Moi Girls High School in Kibra.
“Deeply saddened and concerned by the recent fires in our schools ,latest on the list today being Moi Girls High School in Kibra. My prayers are with the students, staff and parents during this difficult time. I commend the brave efforts of the Nairobi city fire brigade to contain the blaze and Kenya Red Cross”
