The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has notified motorists and other road users of a planned disruption along the Mombasa – Nairobi Highway for 15 days.

The temporary disruption of traffic flow will commence from Sunday, November 17, 2024, to Sunday, December 1, 2024.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that a section of Mombasa Nairobi (A8) Highway will experience traffic disruption between the Makupa Bridge and Changamwe Interchange from Sunday, November 17, 2024, to Sunday, December 1, 2024,” KeNHA’s notice read in part.

KeNHA noted that the rehabilitation works are expected to improve the road experience and easier to connect between Makupa Bridge and the Changamwe area.

With the expected disruption, KeNHA has appealed to motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan. Further, the authority informed motorists that traffic marshalls would be deployed to help them navigate the section of the road which would be affected.

“KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan below and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” the authority stated.

The road serves Mombasa residents and other passengers travelling to other sections within the coastal region. Some trucks picking and delivering goods to the Port of Mombasa also ply that route making it critical in the coastal city.

With the festive season fast approaching, the highway is expected to get busier as families flock to various coastal towns to spend time with their loved ones and unwind.
