Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, Alice Wahome, has urged Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu to refrain from involving her in his political disputes.
Currently out of the country on national assignment, Wahome stated that she does not have time for unnecessary political discussions and is focused on fulfilling her responsibilities to the people of Kenya as Cabinet Secretary.
“Joe Nyutu, Senator, Murang’a County, I have just arrived in Baku, Azerbaijan for COP29. I’m here for various high level meetings on behalf of the Country. I have watched you on a church platform talking about ‘power.’
“I am more interested in service delivery and governance and not power. I don’t know who sent you (Senator Joe Nyutu) to talk about me but kindly do not drag me into your politics,” she said in response to remarks made by Murang’a Senator at a church service on Sunday.
The outspoken lawmaker had sensationally claimed that CS Wahome and others appointed from the Mt. Kenya region to President William Ruto’s cabinet were only handling peripheral duties, contrary to their roles.
“Though she (Alice Wahome), is a Cabinet Secretary, she has no power in that Ministry. All the power is with the PSs and they have no regard for her,” the Senator alleged
He further claimed that the region is gradually being marginalised, especially following the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua from the Deputy President’s position.
Wahome warned the Senator to be careful with his statements, asserting that they are completely inappropriate and uncalled for.
