Two people have died on the spot at Roadblock area along Namanga road in Kajiado County after the vehicle they were traveling in was involved in a road accident.

The Toyota pickup with four occupants was heading towards the Namanga direction from Kajiado town before it rolled several times while avoiding to hit cattle crossing the road.

Two occupants died on the spot while two are in a critical condition.

Confirming the incident, Kajiado Central Sub-county Police Commander Daudi Loronyokwe cautioned motorists plying the route to be cautious of increased animals criss-crossing the road during this drought season.

“It is sad that two passengers have lost their lives this afternoon in a self involved accident. The vehicle rolled several times while avoiding to hit cattle who were crossing the road. Two occupants died on the spot while two are in a critical condition,” Loronyokwe confirmed.

The two were rushed to Kajiado Referral hospital.

Loronyokwe further warned motorists against speeding while plying the road.

“Drivers are prone to speeding along Namanga Road assuming it has fewer vehicles. There are a lot of trucks which ply the route on a daily basis. Currently, there is a surge of unattended livestock and wild animals crossing the road due to effects of drought,” the police boss added.

The four occupants are believed to be workers of a power generating company within Kajiado and were heading for some job assignment.

The vehicle has since been towed to Kajiado police station.
