Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has interdicted two officers arrested in Garissa by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on fraud charges.
Their interdiction follows a statement from EACC, which indicated that the duo were nabbed hatching and executing a fraudulent scheme where they overpaid casual employees engaged by the institution and later demanded they surrender the overpaid money.
“The two were processed at EACC North Eastern Regional Offices in Garissa and later booked at Garissa Police Station pending further processing,” it added.
Following the interdiction of the duo, KFS sent a warning to its staff against engaging in any form of corruption. The government authority indicated that it will not hesitate to take action against any of its employees found culpable.
“To deter corruption, all KFS staff are made well aware of the anti-corruption policy, staff code of conduct, and whistleblowers,” KFS made it clear.
