Senator Orwoba: Men know how to play political games na hawatufundishi, this is why we are failing

Speaking during a live morning show on K24 TV on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, Orwoba disclosed that she is working at a political academy where women who want to join politics will be taught how to run and engage in the game.

The senator who was nominated by the UDA party to represent women in the Senate believes that women are disadvantaged when it comes to politics due to a lack of political know-how.

“I am working at a political academy where we send particularly women who want to join politics. These men know how to do the political game na hawatufundishi. This is why we are failing so we need a political academy to teach women how to run politics,” she said.

The vocal senator who was at the forefront of rejecting the impeachment of Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza stated that the electorate should be sensitized that the removal of governors from office is a political process.

Additionally, she stated that the electorate should also gauge the political temperature and dynamics.

“On removal of (governors) from office, the electorate should be sensitized that it is a political process and some of the questions you are asking you would ask having gauged the political temperature and the political dynamics,” she added.

In a statement published on X, the nominated senator stated that the patriarchy in Kenya’s politics will always oppress the few elected women.

The women advocate in the Senate believes that women leaders in Kenya are subjected to rough and unfair treatment compared to their male counterparts.

“I keep shouting and I continue to shout about this: Women in Kenya need to join politics! This is a numbers game, as long as we have minimum elected women, the patriarchy will never end and women leaders will always have it rough and unfair! This is the cross we bear,” Orwoba said.
