A middle-aged woman in Meru escaped death by a whisker on Tuesday October 25, 2022, when angry villagers stormed her home after she was allegedly found making love with her son.
The woman from Kiguchwa in Tigania Central faced the wrath of her fellow women after she was reported to have been intimate with her 27-year-old son.
According to the area chief Edwin Mwiti, the woman is claimed to have been luring young boys and his son to the heinous act, a move he said irritated the villagers who came out baying for her blood.
“I have received a report that the woman in question was found in the act with his son by her husband who raised alarm and attracted the villagers,” the chief said.
He added that the locals decided to follow customary rules to discipline the woman whom they termed as dangerous to the young boys and men in the area.
She was later flashed out from her house by irate fellow women after her husband shared the news with them.
The crowd stormed the woman’s homestead at Kanguba village while singing songs and carryings twigs before frogmarching her to the nearby shopping centre.
“It is an embarrassment and shame to us as women. We wonder why she is sleeping with her son while she has a husband. And that is not enough, we have been getting information she lures young boys to make love to her. We have chosen to punish her traditionally,” said one woman who sort anonymity.
The woman only identified as Kaumi was forced to carry ripe bananas on her back as women whipped her.
Many people including the area authority condemned the act insisting that the woman and her son should face the full force of the law.
However, family sources claimed that her son is mentally unstable, adding that the mother has been luring him into the beastly act.
Area chief Edwin Mwiti, however, told K24 Digital that an investigation would be carried out, adding the culprit and her son went into hiding after the embarrassing ordeal.
