The U.S. Department of State opened the portal for applicants of the DV-2024 green card program to check the status of their applications – to know whether the application was successful or not.

The registration period for the DV-2024 Program popularly known as the green card lottery began on October 5, 2022, and concluded on November 8, 2022.

Applicants are usually notified about the status of their applications, whether successful or not, through the U.S. Department of State website.

The U.S. Department of State opened the portal on May 6 for the DV-2024 applicants to check their statuses. The Entrant Status Check for DV-2024 applicants will remain open until September 30, 2023.

Please be sure to have the Entrant’s Confirmation Number, Last/Family Name, and Year of Birth to check the entrant’s status online.

Those whose green card applications were successful have been notified of the dates when their visa interviews at the U.S. Embassy are scheduled for.

Note that even if your green card application was successful you can still be denied a U.S. visa if your interview at the Embassy is unsuccessful.

If your green card application was not successful, you can still try your luck again in the DV-2025 program.

After the applicants for the DV-2024 program are selected, the U.S. Department of State will open the DV-2025 program for applicants to apply.

There is a limited period of time during which one can register for the Diversity Immigrant Visa (DV) Program during each fiscal year.

Note that the registration for the green card lottery is usually done two years ahead, between the months of October and November.

For instance, the DV-2025 program will open between October and November 2023 and applicants will know the status of their application in May 2024.

Green card application offers an ordinary person the chance of permanently relocating to the US. Even so, only 55,000 people worldwide who apply for green cards are allowed into the U.S.

The Diversity Lottery Program (green card) makes available up to 55,000 permanent resident visas annually to persons from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States.

Millions of other applicants unfortunately usually have to contend with remaining in their countries or seek alternative ways of relocating to America.

Applying for a green card is not the only path to entering the US for those with dreams of relocating to the world’s biggest economy.
