The wife of pastor Ezekiel Odero of the New Life Prayer Centre and Church has finally spoken days after her husband was arrested over reported deaths at his church situated in Kilifi.
Sarah Odero while speaking to congregants in a video shared via their official Youtube account, noted that prayer services had been halted until further notice to pave room for investigations.
“I am here to tell you that we will not have prayer services at this church because it is good that we give the government enough time to investigate the ongoing issues besieging churches that have been reported on social media and news,” she stated.
Sarah also implored the believers to continue praying hard while waiting for the police to conclude their investigations.
“But it is not only about New Life church but many other churches. I urge those on social media to continue praying hard,” she added.
He is accused of moving critically ill believers from hospitals to perform healing miracles in his church. The church was closed and the sick found were ordered to seek medical assistance.
“As the regional security team, we have arrested pastor Ezekiel Ombok Odero of the New Life Prayer Centre and Church at Mavueni in Kilifi county on allegations of the deaths that have been occurring at his premises and reported in various morgues,” Coast Regional Coordinator Rhoda Onyancha stated.
“The prayer centre which is located in Kilifi has been closed down and those residing at his residence have been ordered to go home. The sick have been advised to go back to the hospital,” Rhoda added.
