Musyoka made the remarks as he led a host of leaders from the region in joining the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
However, Musyoka, in response to the remarks by Kalonzo, said that the Kamba region is no longer in the opposition zone.
“Ukambani is no longer an opposition zone. We will not tolerate remarks by Kalonzo because we are not cowards… Everyone should speak for themselves, it is not a home of cowards,” said Musyoka, who spoke at UDA headquarters in Nairobi.
UDA Secretary General, Cleophas Malalah welcomed the new members saying they have made a conscious decision to join UDA.
“The leaders have been enslaved in tribal cocoons and with the narrative that changed from 2022 when the President won despite operating in dire conditions it’s clear that there is hope. Our projection as a party is to score more than 70 per cent of the total votes cast in Ukambani and if you don’t believe this, watch this space,” Malalah said.
Malalah said fast-tracking the construction of Thwake Multipurpose Dam has made the envisioned project become a reality, noting that the intention of the multimillion project is to make Lower Eastern region attain food security.
He also said construction and completion of Emali – Wote road is also on track and the President will be visiting the region soon to launch development projects.
Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei, who was present at the event, took a swipe at Azimio for threatening to go back to demonstrations, even as he lauded a majority of Kambas for not taking part.
“The only demonstrations we want to see in Ukambani is that – because there is subsidized fertilizer – people should be going to plant, taking care of their farms and going to school that is the real demonstration or transformation of development and I think that is where we want to go,” said Cherargei.
He also insisted that the bipartisan team picked on Tuesday is best suited to represent the Kenya Kwanza coalition.
“As Kenya Kwanza, we unveiled our bipartisan team to go for conversation in Parliament and I want to confirm that, that is our best team. In Kenya Kwanza and UDA, we believe in the equals,” he affirmed.
